Outer Banks Shrimp Cookoff

The 16th Annual Outer Banks Shrimp Cookoff was held on Sunday November 2nd from 12-3 pm at the Sea Ranch Resort in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Local chefs competed to prepare the best shrimp dish. The event also featured a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds benefited the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research!

Chef’s Choice:

1587 Restaurant and Lounge– Chef Alex: Local greentail shrimp four ways: Smokey shrimp corn bisque, shrimp cake, shrimp relish acevichado, shrimp shell dusted

People’s Choice:

Beachside Bistro – Chef Kevin: Seafood bisque with a smoked shrimp crostini

Simply Southern Kitchen: Caribbean shrimp – Sauteed fresh, local shrimp with mojito lime seasoning on a bed of Caribbean risotto

Salt Box Cafe – Chef Randolph: Thai pumpkin and shrimp curry- forbidden rice, coconut curry, sweet potato hay

Sal’s NY Pizza – Chef Jes: Seared shrimp gyro- tzatziki sauce, cucumber, tomato, and onion on mini pita bread

Goombay’s Grille and Raw Bar – Chef Dave: Coffee rubbed shrimp tacos – coffee and brown sugar spiced shrimp with a rice wine vinegar slaw with shredded pepper jack cheese topped with a cilantro sour cream

Shipwreck’s Tap House and Grill– Chef Steven: Smoked shrimp toast- puff pastry topped with whipped sundried tomato cream cheese and house smoke shrimp salad

Sea Chef Dockside Kitchen– Chefs Jeff and Mac: Shrimp salad with cilantro, mint, cashew, and pineapple
